1962 Oldsmobile Starfire Convertible

In the mountains of Colorado, a friend owns a 1962 Oldsmobile Starfire convertible. He bought it in 1972 and over a lifetime of tinkering and fixing many classic old cars, this beautiful vehicle has stayed in his collection.

Personally, I find two features most striking about the 1962 Oldsmobile Starfire. Inside, the luxurious interior, the dashboard design, and the charming Starfire emblems on the back speakers and glove compartment impress me. I also like the distinct football shaped tail lights on the outside.

My friend's car has been a long-term project. It runs fantastically and most of the parts are original. The next major purchase will be a new cover for the covertible. The old one, installed in 1976, clearly needs to be put to rest.

I was informed the Starfire was an "off shoot" of the Oldsmobile 98 and 88 model.

1962 Oldsmobile Starfire One interesting feature: the speedomoter had a green light that corresponded with the speed. As one drove faster, the light would turn yellow and then red at very high speeds.
